Seaside Regional in Question Due to Covid Surge – ACBL to Decide on August 20
Here’s the statement from ACBL:

August 17, 2021

Dear fellow ACBL Members,

Yesterday we notified the sponsors of four sectional tournaments scheduled to begin in September that we will assign tournament directors to staff their tournaments, and they can be held as scheduled. One of these sectionals has since made the decision to cancel. There are an additional six sectionals where decisions are pending per discussion with the tournament sponsors. Correction: Seaside Regional and Portland SECTIONAL Tournaments Canceled
From District 20 and Unit 487 Boards of Directors:

Oregon Coast Regional (Seaside) has just been canceled by the District 20 Board of Directors. It was due to start on September 27. The main reason is the surge of coronavirus cases in the region. The Board, in an abundance of caution, did not want to unnecessarily expose players, staff, and the community to potential harm from the pandemic.

Planet Hool Classes for Kids Starting in September

This group teaches bridge over ZOOM (the only way to get things done in this day).

If you know any kids, grandkids, folks that want to get started with Bridge…this is a great opportunity.

The classes are on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 4-6 Pacific time and they are FREE. They are very casual, and start with the fun part of bridge—taking tricks!!

Even though it is a ways off elections for new board members will be occurring at the annual meeting which will be held in some fashion on February 13, 2021. We need to fill 5 open slots to serve with holdover members Ali Amory, Diane Bricker, Betsy Ovitt, and Joyce Spence.
