Once a date is firmed up, let Betsy know if you’ve signed up for the February date but cannot make it on the new date.

- Published On: January 1st, 20220 Comments on Why We (Collective ‘We’) Do This – A New Years Wish
We contacted Jeff Taylor in the last week of his life, before we knew it was the last week of Jeff Taylor’s life, and asked him how we could help. We knew that his wife, Linda, was not doing well. “Thanks. Just keep bridge going so I have an outlet.”
It would be hard to come up with a better, or more poignant example, of the importance of keeping our bridge community going. It has been through the efforts of all of us that the Unit and EBC continue to survive. With the emergence of mega-clubs like the Alliance, clubs the size of ours will continue to face unique challenges. It seems inevitable that we will continue to see the demise of smaller clubs. We are fortunate that we have a large enough pool of players that, assuming we all continue to pull together, we can honor Jeff’s request for the foreseeable future.
Right now it is a little hard to say how long before we will be back f2f. When the club closed in March of 2020, three weeks seemed like a reasonable estimate. We all know how that worked out.
Let us all celebrate the time we get to share with one another and hope for the best for all of us in the New Year.
Warmest,
Don/Sherri.
