Georgia is a friend of Nancy Kibbey. She and Laura Jaszkowski have combined their pieces for the current show at EBC. We are grateful to Georgia for her willingness to share her outstanding work with us.
Artist Statement:
For the first half of my life, I would have told you that I didn’t have a creative bone in my body. Then I realized that creativity isn’t in the bones; it’s in the heart and soul, and in the mind. It’s there for the seeking, and I embarked upon the internal search.
This discovery has led me to a lifelong path of learning and making. What I value most is the process. It’s like finding your way in a new country, without a map, with just the faintest hint of what you’re seeking. You just have to keep looking, and trying, and looking some more. And learning, and learning.
I make textile art because I feel a natural affinity for cloth, thread, texture, and color. But in the long run, it’s just a medium for expression. Visually, I am intrigued by fragmentation and abstraction. But it must be authentic; original, and move me forward on my journey.
