  • Published On: October 6th, 20230 Comments on Sharron Lyons Has Passed Away

Long-time club member Sharron Lyons passed away yesterday.

    From Sherri and Don:

With great sadness we need to tell you that Sharron has passed away.  At her request, there will be no service, however, we will do something at the club in her honor at a later date.

Sharron was a Table 1 fixture at our club. A Ruby Life Master with a BBO user name of “Roadkill”, she was always a formidable opponent. The club has lost a dedicated member and won’t be quite the same without her.

    Our condolences to the family.

One of the largest regional tournaments in the country starts October 2 in Seaside.

Over a week, players of all levels will have multiple options each day to play. In particular, newer players will find 499er and 199er games daily, with 499er gold rush games Tuesday through Saturday.

    Hope to see you there!

  • Published On: September 17th, 20230 Comments on Unit Game Draws a Crowd

Saturday’s Unit Game had a total of 14½ tables. We had a 299er game with five full tables. What a turnout!

Thanks to Susie Leo for coordinating the 299er signup. And thanks to everyone who helped spread the word about this game. We were happy to see some new faces!

Ned, Bev, Steve, and Ginny supplied a great breakfast that somehow stretched to serve 58 players. Thank you!

  • The first Beginning Bridge Class was a big success, with twenty students attending. A big thanks to club members (and Life Masters) Steve Pessin and Terry Nagel for putting this class together and providing a great learning experience. One student said afterward “Steve and Terry hit it out of the park”.

And thank you to everyone at our club who helped spread the word about the classes. It shows there is plenty of interest in bridge if you give folks a place to start.

Classes continue for the next three Wednesdays. You can still sign up, no fee. Here are the details.
