Our first Swiss Team event went well. We had nine teams. Our next Swiss will be Sunday, the 14th at 12:30. This is a game that will award DOUBLE POINTS. It is important to be online at least ten to fifteen minutes prior to the start of the game in case we have to adjust rounds/boards.

A comment about pace of play. In a Swiss Team game, we are playing multiple boards per round. Generally speaking, this means that the hands are played quicker because we are not moving as often. The goal for the Swiss games should be 6 minutes a board. We will still list it as 7 minutes a board, but it would be great if we could finish in less time.

A note about viewing scores for Swiss team games

Swiss team scores will be posted to our website’s calendar when ACBL makes them available, usually an hour or two after the match. Unfortunately, we currently cannot get hand records for these games for posting to our site. If you play a Swiss team match, you should be able to see the hands in your tournament history on BBO.

We are going to try Saturday at 9:30. We will see what sort of response we get. Usually, we know after three weeks if the game is viable. There will be a Zoom session immediately following. I will find one hand that is worth a look and then open it up for discussion of any other hands or topics folks want to pursue.

Swiss team games are coming to Virtual EBC.

We are going to do a Beta test of sorts on Sunday, the 7th of Feb. at 12:30. The fee for this game will be $3 which is the lowest BBO allows. We are wanting to use this game to give us all a chance to check out this new format. If there are an odd number of teams, the choices are to have a sit-out or use robots. We plan to use robots.

We appreciate you considering getting a team together to check this out. Pleas be online 15 minutes prior to game time.

Depending on interest, the idea, as of now, is to hold a Swiss Team event at 12:30 on the second Sunday of every month.

Possible 199er game

We are checking to see how much interest there would be in adding another limited point game.

Setting the upper limit at 199MP includes most of the folks we think might be interested. Some have requested a 99er game but we do not have enough folks in that grouping to create viable games.

Possible times. Saturday morning at 9:30. Wednesday evening at 6:30. Sunday evening at 6:30. Or….?
